REAP Evaluation for the British Library 2023-2024

Consultancy Projects

Dr Errol Francis, CEO and Artistic Director for Culture&, and Sandra Shakespeare FRSA, Culture& Associate Consultant and Director of Museum X, were commissioned by the British Library to support them with evaluating the Public Engagement and Audience strands of work funded via REAP 2023-2024, formerly known the Anti-Racism Project.

With over 50 years of combined experience in arts, heritage, and organisational change, Culture& is enthusiastic about collaborating and supporting The British Library’s journey towards diversity, equity, and inclusion (EDI). Our anti-racism-centred methodology provided rich, deep insights into how to build successful interventions, as well as critique of organisational EDI strategies from the perspectives of those most affected by them.

Dr Errol Francis and Sandra Shakespeare gathered data from interviews, focus groups and surveys to capture of initiatives from REAP and outputs so that it represents and shows the richness of experiences from staff and associated community stakeholders. There were desk research and data analysis to highlight lessons learnt, in terms of recommended good practice, outcomes and achievements and looking at the life of the project beyond the present project funding period.
